BIG screen - Small Price

Bought myself a new 60" thin wide screen tv and my older 46" HD rear-projection set is up for sale.

Works great, beautiful color and High Definition ready image.

But I have jumped ahead in high technology and no longer need it.

Of course 6 years ago, it was almost leading edge. Obviously it is NOT a thin flat screen.

I planned all along to place it in a corner and that worked well for this "thick" entertainment device.

I figured in the meantime I would have a big screen for a good price.

From Sears for $999.

When I felt the need for something bigger and better, I would pass along a good deal to someone.

I enjoy finding a new craft beer for sale.

I enjoy drinking beer.

Well, DUH, I bought a MR. BEER home brew kit for $50.

Two gallons of beer later I am ready to share the experience. For $20 you can be the master Mixer.

The original package also came with the powders and yeast you need to mix your first batch.

Do you need an 8-foot long light for your shop or garage? I found four very old ones and they're $10 each. As is.

I've cleaned them up a bit but you probably will want to spray a coat of white paint on before you wire them up.

The two 75watt bulbs are NOT included.

Hey...$10 each to light up your life.

My dad probably brought these back to his shop in the 1970s when he was remodeling and retro-fitting drug stores. He installed a string of them to light his own workspace.

These four he stashed in a corner, out of sight, behind something. I just spotted them, stacked neatly.

Somebody called and asked if they had reflectors (no), if they were wired with a plug-in (no)and were they ready to use (no).

I reminded him these things sell for $80 or $90 online at Tru-Value and Amazon.com. And the bulbs are not included there either.

Another guy said a friend had told him about these. Wanted to know if the red, green and yellow still worked?? Seems he was looking for STOP lights.

Looking around in the downstairs shop, I came across a "Lazy Susan" made from Monkey pod wood.

Huh?

What material?

It was carved and sold in the Philippines and my folks have had it for at least 30 years. Maybe longer.

As far as I know, they never traveled there so it must have been a present.

Online, I found that these are/were very popular souvenirs.

As you can see, the two bottom trays have lift-out bowls.

On the internet, I saw a person asking $200 and another scoffing and saying "you can get this for $5 in Manila."

Ah, but we're not in Manila.

If you're interested, please make me an offer.

Another item I am told is a traditional keepsake from that part of the world is the large (30") wooden spoon and fork set.

These hang on the wall and proclaim you appreciate carvings from the Philippines.

Build a Dollhouse Replica of YOUR house...

I have put together a step-by-step folder that shows how to turn a piece of plywood into a miniature copy of your house.

Of course it's simple ...I was able to do it.

My 8-year old daughter wanted a dollhouse. But, when I shopped around, I found these things weren't cheap.

Maybe I could make one for her?

Hmmm..why not do a copy of the great looking house we had in Jefferson City, Missouri?

I am no craftsman but I can do OK with a sheet of plywood, a drill and a saw.

Plus, I would be using the actual house as my model.

I also discovered that wood putty is very helpful to cover small mistakes.

Avoid the errors I made by following all my steps outlined in the illustrated brochure.

Water Cooler On Your Desk $19

Before I retired, I bought a one gallon mini-water cooler to sit on my desk. It got comments from everyone who walked by.

This meant I was able to work harder and skip some trips away from the phone and computer. Duh!? Was I really THAT dumb?
